Found Object Sculpture
Intermediate Sculpture, NC State, Fall 2012
This project was about gathering and joining together random objects so that the objects appear as if they are coming together in harmony. I found many wires and long objects such as ethernet cables and zippers which gave me the idea to create a jelly fish. Other objects I used were fake flowers, the burner from a portable stove top, computer chords, tupperware containers which I melted to give the body a jelly-like essence, and other medical lab supplies. My goal was to make my found objects come together harmoniously to bring life to it. The most challenging part of the project was finding ways to sturdily join all of the parts together. I ended up using the hand drill to create holes in my objects to be fastened with wire to solve this problem.
